I think you are absolutely smack on the money here. People saying that AMD's gear overheats or have driver issues clearly are mislead/sheltered and have no idea about the current aspects of any of the current hardware/software becoming available. Note to guys that do post that sort of stuff, its probably better you didn't embarrass yourself. It is common knowledge that AMD driver issues are a myth.

Here's an idea for advertisement. "AMD 6000 series. We win....again!" Now send me my 35 million. Oh and three 6870s until the Gayman comes out.

As for drivers, I challenge ppl bashing AMD/ATI drivers to post examples and proof. It has become a popular bandwagon. Of the last 10 machines I worked on in my shop that the owners claimed ATI driver issues. 3 were defective and starting to artifact 3 were built by ppl with no business using a screwdriver and had crappy cable management and overheating issues. 2 were former Nvidia users who didn't properly remove the old drivers. 1 was a brain surgeon who was trying to use his 5870 in his HP machine w/ a 300W PSU 1 driver issue. They were 2 years old.... EDIT I am NOT implying AMD/ATI doesn't have driver problems... All hardware vendors do. It's just getting old hearing ppl spout off and not have a clue...

@Tr0y Who said you would benefit? AMD will benefit. You stated that AMD's money would be better spent on R&D and implied that marketing was a waste. Marketing is never wasted money unless it's done wrong. That was point you missed.

Yes you need to say more. Like admitting you know nothing about business. How much good would it do AMD to develop great products, if there isn't a marketing push to get them into stores and machines? When AMD was kicking Intel's butt... Royally, They (Intel) never missed much of a beat. Intel had their monopoly and shady business practices to keep their super hot and inferior Pentium 4's in retail machines, but it was their MARKETING that kept the fanboy's loyal and buying their crap.
