I agree with you ! the 400 series was rubbish . Comparing it with Barts is like comparing a EVO 8 to a STi ... They could erase 1 digit off ;) Next Gen Cards : AMD Radeon HD 157 ? Who knows ;)

Well, 6870 looks like a nice upgrade for my HD4890.. 20% higher performance, DX11, better IQ, newer UVD engine, less power consumption.. And a step cheaper than what I've shelled out for my HD4890 :) But I'll wait to see what HD69xx cards bring, just to have clear picture.. But these look just fine to me :) Specially once custom HD6870 cards start to come out

Exactly. Although the naming scheme is misleading, it still isn't as bad as Nvidia's since they ran out of numbers after the 9000 series. 100 series? Include some laptop stuff. 200 series is okay, 300 series = wtf? 400 series = poor. Plus the 460 is the only decent card, and they're not exactly going to be able to use the 400 naming scheme for improved cards on the 460 technology. /rant over

"and we are quite sure that Nvidia isn't happy with the GTX 470 price as the Barts is certainly cheaper to produce." Barts is at least 2 times cheaper to produce as half die size results in less than half the cost. My guess is that it is only 2 times cheaper because 470 has clusters disabled and lower clocks.

if u already have a 460 and considered looking for an upgrade, u were being rather naive. 460 was released a few months ago. it will last few more months. and as hard as it may sound, not everything revolves around u coz 6800 is not meant for u lot but if u have a 3870/4850/5770/9800/260, then 5850 is worth fine.

Time for a bit of Nostagia. I wonder how it would be looking now if 3DFX were still in buisness producing Voodoo Graphics cards and Matrox got into the Gaming card buisness as well. There would be a hell of a lot of competition and they'd all be giving graphics cards away with packets of Cornflakes. 8)
