"Well, that's except for the 128GB 11.6 inch version, which is priced at €1,149. Since the US price stands at $1,199, this means that Steve generously opted to still rip off Europeans but lower the price by some €50. Why thanks Steve, you're a doll. " Him, and pretty much every other company/corporation/industry.

Well, at least some of you don't look at the big picture. That's the first time I've seen well thought about responses to a story about an Apple product.

Good lord you guys don't look at the big picture. The UVL version of the Arrandale is a lot slower (clockspeed) and has a lot less cache than the C2D ULV processors. The performance boost wouldn't be that great AND... The ULV Arrandale is much larger. With it's two die package it would be hard to fit into the confines of the MBA. Finally, they'd be stuck with intel's IGP. Apple is pushing OpenCL compatiblity across it's line and intel's current IGP isn't. There is no way they could have done a Arrandale ULV and a discrete GPU in this formfactor and had 7-hour battery life. They used the same excuses for not putting Arrandale in the 13" MBP, and I think they're full of it there. Here, they're definitely not.

Dan's right, for this kind of "trim everything possible" style of system C2D with a discrete GPU is the best fit for the majority of OS-X tasks. Remember, Apple design their machines to run OSX. For this reason their hardware choice makes perfect sense. No doubt the cost to performance ratio will be way off for most Fudz readers but if you want the increased portability and battery life it's not a bad rub. The best thing for non-OSX fans about Apple releasing new hardware is the rush for other companies to undercut them with similar devices. Hopefully Dell will revive the Adamo as it's always had a similar design focus/philosophy to the Macbook Air.
