Seems an interesting option for some. Won't draw away windows/linux cheap'n'small netbook fans, but neither will Sony's pricey Viao line - that's not what these devices are spec'd for. Regardless of weather or not you need it, seeing more options for small/light netbooks with SSDs & 10 hour battery life isn't bad. Dell/Asus ect also love to one-up Apple for less $ so end of day this is good. Someone give Nick some shiny happy pills already.

acer.ferrari.one.just as stylish, windows based, wont break, and its about £400 or so....did i mention the dual core cpu, hybrid gpu solution...and a 1366x768 11.6" LED screen, hd ready

An 11.6" Air would actually be a somewhat interesting machine, if it kept the 1280x800 resolution anyway. I'm fairly agnostic about the OS, MacOS is as functional as Windows or popular Linux distros for the kind of stuff I'm doing. The problem really is the hardware, lack of standard ports and still rocking the C2D in a Sandy Bridge era doesn't really push the machine into the mainstream segment.

Anyway, Jobs said they couldn't make "cheap" netbook (under 500$) without it being a rubbish, and I'm sure that they'll eventually manage to create "awesome new" netbooks that will cost triple than average netbook of same performance.. That's something Apple can do real well! ;)
