Where do I have to look to find these offers? Every time I've looked for a game in Steam I have found it to be close to twice as expensive as the same game in Amazon or Play.com. How do I get these great Steam offers I keep hearing people talk about?

:-* Oh well, I have nothing else better to do. A weird statement? How? Isn't the console being blamed for the constant decline of the PC because its DX9? So here you have PC exclusives, recently released, DX9, not taking advantage of the PC! Also, you said "any developer will make his game and port it to consoles too"-Wolfdale. So when are the PC exclusives Civ 5 and Starcraft 2 coming to consoles? Exactly! You sir, make a dumb statement, not true, and totally stupid. Also understand what you are reading. The NPD group tracks retail sales! NPD offers the only retail point-of-sale (POS) tracking information available for the software industry. Thats straight from the website! I suggest you go there and read it instead of whining!

The game i play most is free 2 play. The games I bought this year, I am disappointed in and want my money back but they all have this retarded "anti resell" bs that I would have to deal with. Crash and burn!

thats a bit of a weird statement, any developer will make his game and port it to consoles too, why would you NOT wanna do that, and miss out on the sales from that part? on the other hand, try fable.. an xbox game exclusive.. then why do they got it on pc too, and halo for that part you sir, make a dumb statement, barely true, barely related to the topic at hand.. its pretty obvious that if they dont calculate electronic sales, their presented numbers are nothing but a practical joke, a LOT of sales are being done electronic.. i wonder how much % of the left4dead sales was NOT electronic?? you cant trust numbers if you dont have them all

@Jaberwocky You're a man who makes sense. PC hardware makers release, and RE-release *er* RE-brand card, after card, after card, with 5%-10% increases here or there, bilking these dumb fools of their money! Nobody is making PC games anymore, and nobody is making them to take advantage of these cards anyway. Almost all of the decent games on PC are old as dirt or console hand-me-downs. Don't blame the console either. Just look at the last big "exclusive" PC games. They're both RTS games and both DX9! The PC games industry is all about the hardware, not games, like the console side of the hobby is! Its games "first" hardware second. Its a huge waste of money.

I can see the games industry crashing... when is the last time they came out with something new? Many game makers are dropping their support for the mod community because they want to make a mod, then call it a new game and charge another $50 for it. Modern Warfare 2 is just one of many games that is just a remake without an original idea to use. I haven't seen an original game come out in the past couple years... many gamers are just sticking to their older, more original and still moddable games, so hardware has stunted as well. If nothing else, some games like Civ 5 or Supreme Commander 2 are 'dumbed down' versions of their parents. Its really bad and sad. Developers need to actually DEVELOP something new, not just another remake of old ideas...

Reports like these happen because the intermediaries between the content creators and consumers, be it in the game, movie or music industry, like EA, Sony, Warner, et-al, are the ones that pay of the media to put such rants out there since they're the ones that suffer from poor hard media sales. That includes CDs, DVDs, additional merchandise. Exactly that overpriced crap out of which only a small fraction goes to the content creators while the rest into the moguls bank accounts. Like all bubbles, it will burst and people will move on to bigger and better things... one of them being Steam, with no plastic recyclables and plenty of good offers that don't look like ripoffs.

Agreed. Why report game sales if e-tail isn't to be included? Is the average gamer going to drive to a store that they may not even have in their hometown simply to buy a game they could purchase online with a few mouse-clicks? I'd call their "research" on this matter nothing more than an exercise in futility.

Why does anyone even bother reporting this sort of thing. The sales are dropping because everyone is using steam, and that's not recorded in the near-useless NPD figures.
