x86 licence is "technically" non transferable, BUT there's the 64bit extension from AMD(A.K.A Intel 64) that is developpe and licenced by AMD. In the extremely unlikely event Intel wish to terminate x86 license because another company purchased AMD, Intel will have to stop using AMD64(Intel64), which means they will have to come up with their own 64bit extension(may take years due to compatibilities issue). Of course I need to point out, it can not/will not allow to happen as all mordern HPC, most of the top500 supercomputer, servers, personal PC use that vital extension.

isn't the x86 licence still non-transferable (even after the loosening of the restriction following the AMD-intel settlement),lea ving AMD near worthless if sold?

[quote name="AustinHWEnginee r"]Llano GF 32nm isnt yielding. I thought Globalfoundries skipped 32 nm, and went straight for 28? I could be wrong, but I thought that's why AMD and NVidia are not making any 32 nm cards, because GF and TSMC aren't using that process.

Llano GF 32nm isnt yielding. Bulldozer is still in bringup w/ 0 external quoted numbers (IPC, Freq) anywhere. The two most interesting cores/ICs are not going to generate revenue for another year. Rumored hiring freeze. Sounds like Dirk needs to focus internally on his teams execution.

Oracle's Larry Ellison is a total commie working hard to monopolize the industry and drive prices up, we don't need that when Intel is already busy screwing over 80% of the market to begin with. VirtualBox was awesome and now I can't even use my mouse half the time! If AMD were to get bought out by Oracle we'd all be completely screwed and unfortunately Via CPU's aren't exactly powerhouse considering they are or will soon release their first quad/concentrate on low power.
