Using DXVA playing back H284 should be no problem, but this ties you to Windows. Using the CPU (in Linux)... we will have to see. Nonetheless, even the Atom plays back H264 in SDTV resolutions, so Zacate and Ontario should be able to so at least that.

Cant wait to bump my athlon II X2 HTPC guts for this baby. I know the main benefit is electricity savings but my HTPC is on 24/7. Should be the perfect chip for HTPC and netbooks, maybe even slim long battery life laptops. Hell I only use my core i3 laptop for web surfing and multimedia, the cpu never even breaks a sweat.

I'm more interested in Ontario; would it be clocked at around 1.2 GHZ then? Would Zacate end up in the 11.6" range or would Ontario? Price ranges? Battery life?

They won't be better, we've said that on numerous occasions. Intel might have higher GPU clocks, but it's ridiculous to even compare the two. AMD will have a proper GPU core, with real DX11 support, great UVD and drivers. It will take Intel years to catch up even in the best case scenario. Zacate is starting to look like a damn nice product, I just hope AMD scores enough design wins to make an impact. It's truly a winning combination: low price and low TDP coupled with good CPU and great GPU performance. I'd chose it over Intel in a heartbeat.

cant agree on this as in pref\watt intel was dominating since core (even first one, not core2). Still i would LOVE to get this one as my new CULV-type notebook (currently with 12W 1.2Ghz dualcore celeron + 10W HD4500M). As this small guy will eat it raw on both cpu and esp gpu side still consuming less power

This is why I like AMD, they always provide low watt solutions ware Intel only provides power sucking monsters even on the Netbook end. Sure their Atom only drew 4w on the cpu core while the chipset sucked 22w. i945 =FTF

I still doubt Intel's graphics are going to be better even if it's a higher clock. Plus we don't know all the features of the chip yet, maybe they are going to incorporate their version of turbo they introduced with Phenom II x6. At least I hope so, that would be the end of the 'atom' lol
