MS needed a magic wand to catch up to anything now. They needed the magic wand of Developers. I remember Windows Mobile is all the rage a few years ago but Apple set the bar high and then came Android. MS is loosing this battle and the solid block design is not going to win any prizes either.

another award winning article from the best journalist on this site... really everytime I read one of Nick's articles, I see more of the words "fart, fart, fart, fart, wet fart, apple, blah, I'm a garbage a** journalist, wanna see a magic trick, I live to serve only one..." things of that sort. Who controls the content on here? whoever that is, you really should assign him to other, more relevant subjects. who the f cares about how lame Apple is? I want my news god dammit! -a PROUD PC, Macbook, AND Captivate owner.

That's just this type of news that I would expect from Nick Farrell. "Ahhh, this damn Apple, curse you! Blah, blah, blah" Same BS as many times before. On serious side, It's too early to make assumptions of this kind. Next year is just one big mistery. Windows Mobile 7, Android OS (for netbooks and touch), next iPad...they are all possible 'game changers' in a big way. Gartner just tries to affect certain stock prices... :)

Microsoft has a slim chace in the mobile market. Microsoft has never been able to compete against the likes of apple and google (zune bing ie etc.), they've only been good at buying or wiping out the companies that don't have enough money to keep up.

and then Way to contradict yourself... And "paused to wipe the floor"? While I agree that Android will handily beat iOS in market share, this article just fails on multiple levels. For interest's sake, Gartner predicted in 2006 that Windows Mobile was poised to take over the industry and attract the most developers... You'd get better predictions out of your local fortune teller.

Maybe Android was running past iOS so fast that it actually had to stop (to pause) in order to be able to wipe the floor with it. It sounds silly now, but when I first read the headline that's what I thought it meant.

I think Gartnet may be right about Winmo 7. Microsoft is really, really late to the party. Winmo7 won't even have copy and paste. Yes, iOS didn't have it when it launched but that is pointless. It has it now, Winmo7 should have it now. I think Microsoft may be so far behind that it is impossible to catch up with the two technological leaders (Apple and Google). I think it should cost Balmer his job, as if his firing needs a reason.

iOS - Best mobile operating system by wide by narrowing margin. Available on few devices. Really just one device, but Apple usually sells a low capacity previous generation iPhone along with it's newest product. Apple doesn't like carriers messing with it, say by adding crapware. Android - 'Good enough' mobile operating system that is vastly improving. Available on a wide range of hardware from multiple manufacturers. Carriers are free to load it with craplets. Is it really a surprise that Android is going to be on more devices in the future? This article is just another Apple-induced Farrelgasm about nothing, with even less actual content. I'm not usually an Apple fan, but Farrel's posts are so incredibly dull that it makes me want to go buy their stuff.
