I still don't understand why do they need to name 6770 to 6870. Who made up this rumor? The xx90 also was used for a refresh and not a new generation.

Well, according to other sites the successor of 5770, BARTS will be named 68xx series. The Cayman architecture will be named 69xx with Anchilles at 6990. This is because Barts will be on par or in range of the 5850 and 5870 (XT and Pro) performance wise. I think this information might be correct, hence the dual 6-pins on the card. Taking that into consideration it will be quite interesting how this fall/winter will turn out.

Welcome to Nvidianization, more power, more plugs, more heat. ATI only has the advantage of having a more streamlined shader allowing them to scale up at little cost.

Why is there only one crossfire port? my guess is that this is a standard prototype board. We shouldn't make assumptions to what card it my be by looking at stuff like power connectors or number of memory chips, if it's only a 6700 card then why does it have two 6pins? and if it's a 6800 card then why does it only have one crossfire port? It's using typical plain cooling fans & heatsinks, the reference cooling solutions might not yet be finalized.

looking closer, there now way at all that is the 6700 series. It has to be a 6800 card. The 5700 pcb is significantly shorter with less power connectors. unless...the 6700 performance will match the 5800 series??
