Sorry but they need much more than a die shrink to get competitive. When 28nm is out imagine AMD 7000 series speeds, should be even better improvement than 6000 series

Yes but 460 is not a reactor, and many reviews of the 470 exaggerate things, for example the idle temperatures, that are lower than the one put in a lot of reviews

But not by itself... that would've been the advantage. Besides, you wouldn't want your main rig stinking of burned meat, never-mind the exhaust fans filling up the house with that stench. On topic, I'll gladly welcome a price war!

Nvidia will bounce back if they don't continue to make the same mistakes as 3DFX and AMD (ATI) better not get to confident or they will be as Nvidia was during the GF7-9 gen with obscene prices that force people to settle in the mid range or lower or fork over more than they are willing to afford. Right now ATI is overpriced but only by a small $20-30 margin. The Nvidia line up is overpriced by $20 on the GTS 450 and any thing higher than a GTX 460 is much worse. All Fermi (Grillforce) needs is a die shrink and ATI will find some competition. Yes I just bought a GTX 460 from Gigabyte.

I remember when Nvidia was down before with the 5800 hairdryer. It has a good capacity for coming back. The issue is that every few years a graphics manufacturer goes too far in trying to one up the competition and ends up being self-neutered. Nvidia did it with 5800, then ATI with 2900, the Nvidia again with Fermi. I'll wait and see.
