nope. on my 5770, if i reduce core clock speed to 635Mhz (25% lowe), performance drops by 10%. if i put core to 850 and mem to 900Mhz (25% slower), performance drop by 10% again!! meaning none of the two is bottlenecking each other. they are very well balanced. but using 256bit on 6700 would mean the core will will pack more shader and\or higher frequency and/or higher IPC compared to 5700

Evergreen’s 40nm process is more than a year old. This 40nm process is a lot more mature which helps enable AMD to squeeze out a lot more performance as possible while either besting or staying within Evergreen’s recorded thermals & temperatures. As for 256-Bit over 128-Bit, quite logical, it’s called Northern Island. Those Next Gen parts needed a larger memory bus in order to benefit from an abnormal performance leap, something which you would only find in a so called Next Gen design. Start saving your pennies because these ATI Radeon HD 6000 bunnies are going to perform like there was no tomorrow.
Wtf are you talking about? I'm obviously referring to the overall performance of the graphics cards. If I had referred to the bandwidth, I'd have said that the 5830 is a lot faster than the 5770 since it has nearly twice the bandwidth. Performance-wise, the 5830 is not nearly twice as fast as the 5770. I'm guessing you have a 5830.
