The fusion logo is no more. Al the things are now AMD  It is silly from AMD to drop the ATI brand. It wold have ben better if the would have dropped AMD instead and brand all ATI. AMD made more publicitie in the last Years bot all the time ATI was the better known brand.

Well it was kinda like Intel's Corei3 chip (I think) with two separate dies on chip, the fusion APU is both GPU & CPU on one silicon wafer

Okay, here's a thought: Did Microsoft not just have a "fusion" chip produced for their Xbox? That is an IBM CPU and an AMD GPU on one die. Would it then not be feasible to have, for instance, an IBM/nVidia chip too, Sony's combo? As said, it's just a thought. AMD has spent a lot of effort on how to link the CPU to the GPU to, so it may be fair to say AMD has the best offerings anyway. These are usually heavily customised chips, so AMD could therefore be asked to make a "Fusionzilla" monster chip. As pointed out above, we've passed console's graphics levels for several years, and may be able to fit it all on one die by now. But, if want to be forward-looking with their consoles, what about Fusion + discrete GPU? That would allow for more GPU acceleration.

I think fusion would be a candidate for the successor of the Nintendo Wii. A Fusion processor could be enough fast to run Wii games in emulation mode (currently there is Dolphin, a program to emulate the PowerPC code for Wii games). According to http://forums.dolphin-emu.com/thread-3090-page-1.html , the required processor is a AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition and a Radeon 4850 as a starting graphics card. I think it will also have the advantage of upscaling current games. However, I don't think AMD Fusion processors will be used in Sony Playstation 4 and Xbox 720...

Intel + GPU = Slow. AMD's Fusion all thanks to "ATI" Graphics has the only chance IMO to power a next gen console. NVIDIA is not currenty setup for this right now and looking at there current track record, I wouldn't trust them for 2012.

It would be a foolish attempt from console makers to go the intel route for next-gen consoles. We all know Intel lacks the GPU power for high-end gaming. It's not about having the best CPU in town (gaming wise), it's about having a good CPU + excellent GPU and in the end, that's what matters.
