Why will it take until 2015 to get RAM down to 25nm? Intel has 25nm SSDs out already, is it really that much harder to make RAM or is it just because Intel doesn't make RAM and everyone else is years behind?

We havent even tapped into DDR3. There's so much more speed potencial for DDR3 and low low latencies to keep it purring like a cat for a long time. Stay away for now DDR4, and let's get some nice 12GB+ DDR3 DIMMs for cheap.

DDR4 memory will be faster for sure. But i think 2015 is a bit late... At least memory speeds do not affect dramaticaly pc's performance.

The whole point of releasing new technologies even when they're not yet needed is so that we don't hit any brick walls performance wise, and when we do need to move on the hardware is already available and stable and may be cheaper

All this new stuff is nice, but do we really need them? SATA3 is not necessary, since there is only one SSD that benefits from it(Crucial C300). USB3 is nice too, but eSata provides about the same performance (practically). Though USB is more universal than eSata. Even PCIe 2.0 isn't very necessary, even the fastest single-GPU cards don't lose more than 5% performance even though there's only 8 PCIe-lanes. The point is, I doubt that DDR4 will bring a big performance boost. But we'll see, maybe I'm wrong :P

hope to god they'll do their best to provide the lowest prices possible, I remember when DDR3 used to be over double the price of what it is now
