Do you happen to know what caused the most crashes in Windows Vista, of all time? Was it ATI? No. Was it overheating? Nah. Was it games? Nopes. It was nVidia software/drivers. NVidia drivers are by far the most unstable I have experienced, and I have tried many after many graphics cards from both vendors. NVidia software - always fail.

the fact how nvidia operates . false advertising , empty promises , bribing , fixed reviews, faked presentations , fake fermi , their PR and public relations, manner , behavior ... it's time to say bye bye , any time now , the manufacturers will be sick of nvidia, XFX is already out. I see the comment character limit increase was quite needed , just enough to fullfil our buys tech discussion

yea or maybe cause their cards dont FRY like pancakes... I bought a GTX 280 with very good ambient temps in my case and lots of fans. First card fried, second card their driver turned off auto fan-fried, third card of the oh so generous offer to upgrade it to GTX280OC for all the trouble.. well it goes up to 107 degrees celcius with not even 3/4 a load or any memory used in less than a minute... its miraculous it even works and is stable. Yet still, I'm gonna have to send that back and try to get another crappy nvidia card that overheats. I'm never buying another Nvidia card again unless their max load temps aren't near the 80's. which all of them are, any "fast" one.

your overestimating the percentage of the market that's high and medium end. Most of the market is budget, and budget version of cards 1 2 or even 3 generations ago at that. The 9% market share nvidia lost is the expensive part of the market. the part of the market that pays more then 50 for a card. this is very costly for Nvidia because selling expensive cards is their bread and butter. And how exactly is this going to be short lived? what has nvidia got to offer? a gtx460 that's 10% larger then the chip from the hd5870 but doesn't even come close in performance? that's not going to be a money maker for them, and if they do start selling, ATI just lowers their prices.

Nele, Fermi wasn't supposed to launch. Fermi in the first place was supposed to be an HPC chip, to be released later on lower tech, 22/20/18nm maybe, for GP only, not gaming, and more importantly when it was supposed to be ready. The chip that was supposed to be release instead of GF100 is broken and now it's collecting dust while GF104 is just a GF100 on diet. Also, the reason the nvidiots lost "a sizable chunk of the market and a few major customers" is not because ATI outsold them but because they were forcing old chips down partners throats. And eventually they would say we won't buy anymore outdated chips, and they did so, leaving this 20% gap in the nvidiots Q results.

Well, it's not ATI's fault it got a 9-month head start - it's Nvidia's. Fermi was supposed to launch a couple of months after Cypress, but the wait dragged on for half a year. In the meantime, Nvidia lost a sizable chunk of the market and a few major customers. Of course, new cards will help, but it's not like ATI is gonna sit around and let Nvidia recover. Entry level HD 6000 are slated for launch in Q4 and both ATI and Nvidia will have to wait for a few more quarters to transition to 28nm... Something tells me that Nvidia, with its power hungry chips, needs the new node a bit more than ATI...

Oh we saw it... How many MONTHS lead did AMD have with their DX11 parts? 9 you say? And only have a 2% lead over the Green Goblin with not even HALF of their lineup released? I'd love to hear your guess on how many more cards you think nVIDIA will sell than AMD... world-mofo'in-wide. So yea, we saw it, and it's pathetic, and will be very short lived.

I´m not an expert but actually they are still cheap to buy, today almost all went down, not as fast as NV ala scuba diving, but the should recover again.
