CES 2011: Accessories, media players, storage
Netgear has been very busy at this year debuting a whole slew of products designed for home networks. They have introduced products in almost every segment of their offerings for the consumer market.

Wireless Accessories

The Netgear Universal WiFi Range Extender (WN3000RP) increases the coverage of an existing home network to include ‘deadzones’ and provides more network bandwidth for entertainment, gaming and social networking applications. The Universal WiFi Range Extender securely and reliably enables devices including iPads, iPods, laptops, WiFi-enabled smart phones, game consoles, WiFi-enabled Blu-rayTM players and TV set-top boxes to quickly connect to the home network. Its compact design is meant to be plugged directly into an electrical outlet without the need for messy cables.

The Netgear 3DHD Wireless Home Theater Networking Kit (WNHDB3004) is the first solution capable of reliably delivering multiple jitter-free 1080p high-definition video streams throughout the home with no new wires. Designed to support the most demanding media streams, the innovative engineering in Netgear 3DHD Wireless technology includes four transmitters and four receivers built into each 3DHD Wireless adapter for Multiple Input Multiple Output transmission (4x4 MIMO), significantly increasing WiFi range and reliability.

Powerline AV Solutions

The Netgear N300 Wireless Router with Powerline AV (WNXR2000) is a whole-home “hybrid” connectivity solution that delivers the convenience of wireless and the reliability of a wired powerline connection, all in one device. With 200 Mbps powerline integrated into the router’s power supply, the WNXR2000 transforms consumers’ homes into a powerline-ready network, which can easily be expanded with the addition of powerline adapters in other rooms of the home.

The HomePlug AV certified Netgear Internet Adapter for Home Theater (XAVB5004) is the first 4-port 500Mbps powerline adapter kit and is the fastest powerline solution on the market today. The XAVB5004 delivers flawless HD video streaming and is capable of connecting up to four Internet-ready home theater devices, such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players, IPTVs, TV set-top boxes, media players or game consoles to the Internet. With bandwidth to support the demanding needs of 3D video, the kit includes one 1-port adapter to connect to the router and one 4-port adapter to connect to the TV. The solution’s four ports are conveniently color coded for simple setup and quality of service (QoS).

The Netgear Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter Kit (XAVB2101) is the smallest 200Mbps powerline AV adapter currently available worldwide. The ultra-compact, space-saving XAVB2101 extends Internet access throughout the home via any power outlet and provides a high-speed wired connection that is ideal for HD multimedia.

Home Media Storage

The ReadyNAS Ultra 2 (RNDU2000) transforms home media networks, delivering media content to local or remote handhelds, desktops and game consoles. NETGEAR’s industry-leading technology partnerships deliver expanded media experiences at home and away from home. TiVo users can use the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 to expand their DVR capacity. Orb transcoding support puts the right media formats on the right screens, streaming movies on handhelds in any connected location. Skifta shifts movies and music onto any DLNA networked screen.

Digital Media Player

The NeoTV HD Media Players (NTV550) enable users to play their digital videos, photos, or music directly on their HDTVs whether the media is stored locally, on the home network, or the Internet. The NTV550 supports HD 1080p, Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound, and offers an additional E-SATA port for faster transfer speeds, and advanced metadata tagging that lets users browse cover art.
